Remove Timestamps
The Remove Timestamps tool strips all time information from your track points, creating a timeless route.
When to Use
This tool is useful when:
- You want to share a route without revealing when you recorded it
- You're converting a recorded activity into a route template
- The time data is incorrect or corrupted
- You want to reduce file size slightly
How to Use
- Upload your GPX or FIT file
- Click the Remove Time button in the Tools section
- The timestamps are immediately removed
- Download your modified file
What Gets Removed
The tool removes the time element from:
- All track points in the route
- Route points (if present)
What's Preserved
Everything else remains intact:
- Coordinates (latitude, longitude)
- Elevation data
- Waypoints and their timestamps
- Sensor data (heart rate, cadence, power)
- Metadata (name, description)
Notes
- This action cannot be undone without reloading the original file
- The button is only enabled if your track contains timestamp data
- After removal, speed calculations won't be possible since they rely on time data
- Exporting to FIT format will still work, but the file won't have time-based metrics
