Remove Waypoints
The Remove Waypoints tool removes all waypoint markers from your GPX file.
When to Use
This tool is useful when:
- You want to share just the route without points of interest
- The waypoints are cluttering your route
- You want to reduce file size
- You're cleaning up a route for a specific purpose
How to Use
- Upload your GPX or FIT file
- Click the Remove Waypoints button in the Tools section
- All waypoints are immediately removed
- Download your modified file
What Are Waypoints?
Waypoints are individual points of interest marked in your file, such as:
- Start/finish locations
- Rest stops or cafes
- Points of interest along the route
- Photo locations
- Custom markers
They are separate from the track points that make up your route.
What Gets Removed
- All
elements from GPX files - Waypoint names, descriptions, and coordinates
- Waypoint symbols and types
What's Preserved
Everything else remains intact:
- The complete track/route
- Elevation data
- Timestamps
- Sensor data
- Metadata
Notes
- This action cannot be undone without reloading the original file
- The button is only enabled if your file contains waypoints
- Track points are NOT affected - only waypoints are removed
- Routes (different from waypoints) are also preserved
